Sintaung is charming village inhabited by Danu, Taung Yoe and Nepalese community. Sin Taung means Elephant shaped mountain, the villages was named as it is situated near the mountain which is looked like Elephant shape. The village is situated 1530 m above sea level and gives stunning view of the valley below. Sintaung can be reach by rail and by road as it is located on the railway line between Kalaw and Thazi. Exciting train ride along the old British track, through tunnels, narrow valleys and walk in the nature through the green forest is the attract of visiting to Sintaung village.

To get income from tourism for local community, community based tourism at Sintaung village operated one of the CBT site in Southern Shan State. Sin Taung community house can be hosted for 16 guests at a time. 2 toilets, two bath rooms and a common wash room are separate from main house. There is no electricity; lighting is provided by using solar panel. Hot water is available upon request.
